Jared Barnes Art Blog

Jared has been working really hard on his new artist website. Something he wanted to include in his site was a place to discuss and talk about how he thinks as an artist. It would be something that he updates regularly to discuss all kinds of art topics including: paintings he done, how to draw and things he likes to use. I'm really excited that he has already got this up and running. You can see it at:

Its still a work in progress.

Pogi Ka

Jared says this is a sign they do in the Philippines for "Good Looking."

Kendi came to me and told me she was tired. I (jokingly) told her to go lie down and take a nap. This is how I found her. With her scriptures and teddy bear asleep in bed.

Aydri finally likes to play with toys. Kendi loves to play close by.

My kids look so different when their hair isn't so fluffy.

Ready for church.
Aydri was so tired, but not enough to go to sleep. Sometimes I set her in the swing to help her fall asleep. She likes to put her feet on the bars.
They actually like to play together despite the age difference. Aydri laughed the whole time Kendi was arranging the bottles of shampoo & conditioner. I think its time to start buckling her in the bouncer.

Aydri - Three Months

Kendi wanted her picture taken too. I thought this was sweet. Does she look only three years old to you?

Good ol' Summertime

We went to the Washington City Community Center with Jared's family. Kendi had been talking about it for months. She would call it the mouse trap game because it had a big yellow bucket that dumps water. For some reason Kendi didn't want to play on the slides. She had a lot of fun just playing in the water and watching other kids.

Kendi loves to clean her room. I wonder how long it will last. She can tell that we are genuinely ecstatic when she does it, so every single day she comes running for us to come see her room. My favorite part is how she makes her bed.
For a long time Jared and I have been trying to come up with a hobby that we can do together. After planning Kendi's birthday party together we decided that we really like to work on projects that we have to get creative with. So we decided to make some things for our home that are significant to us. We haven't done any decorating in our home and I don't like to buy things just because they look nice. We made this board for Kendi's room. I found some fabric that had colors that Kendi liked for her room to copy. We used this saying because Kendi used to watch Sleeping Beauty a lot. Her favorite part was when Rose would sing and dance in the forest. Kendi would come to us and ask if we would "Dream" with her, which meant dance with her. We tried to make the whole board without spending any money out of pocket. We just used a regular board and some acrylic paint that Jared has had kicking around for years. Luckily he is really good at mixing colors. I printed the lettering at home and cut it out and mod podged it on. We took pictures of Jared and Kendi dancing and printed them out too. I know it was a lot more work than just using scrapbook paper and vinyl lettering, but we didn't pay anything and had a lot of fun making it. We have a lot of other projects in mind that we hope are just as thrifty.
Jared loves to have little friendly competitions with the guys. He actually came back and won this stick pull.

Kendi has been learning her letters all summer. My mom found a Hooked on Phonics set at DI for $8. That was a killer deal. Grandma Ericksson gave her this book to help her learn to write the letters.
I know I don't have a lot of pictures of me or Aydri. I think its because I'm taking the pictures and holding Aydri. I will post Aydri's three month baby pictures soon.
